Career and Professional Life
From 2001 to 2003, James worked as an assistant coach at his alma school, the University of San Diego. San Diego won the West Coast Conference Championship and qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2002–2003 during his tenure.
In addition, he began his professional basketball career with the San Antonio Spurs in 2003, following his coaching tenure with the Toreros. As a result, in the summer of 2003, he started as an assistant video coordinator before being elevated to assistant coach.
Before going to work with former Spurs assistant Monty Williams, this coach spent seven seasons with the Spurs, helping them to two NBA championships in 2005 and 2007. Later, he worked as Jacque Vaughn’s lead assistant with the Orlando Magic.
