Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min, arguably South Korea’s most popular athlete, gained a new fan after aespa member Karina expressed her admiration for the player and his recent Premier League Golden Boot victory. The Premier League’s Golden Boot award is given to the player who scores the most goals in a season. In 2022, the prize was shared by the Korean player and Liverpool attacker Mo Salah. At the present, they have a combined total of 23 goals.
Aespa’s Karina expressed her adoration for Son Heung-min. On Bubble
On May 23, Karina, an aespa member, posted the following on the fan community site Bubble. “She said,” she explained.
“This is just coincidental, but I read that Son Heung Min won the Premier League Golden Boot. Wow, 23 goals is incredible. He’s very great.”

Despite the fact that she was tired, Karina continued to praise the athlete.
“I’m going to bed right now. Bye (but can you guys watch Son Heung Min score goals? It’s incredible).”
Karina urged aespa supporters to continue to follow and support Son Heung-min, Korea’s pride. Karina isn’t the only celebrity to congratulate the athlete on his achievement. J-Hope, a member of BTS, also congratulated Son Heung on his individual win at the end of the English Premier League’s 2021-22 season on his official Instagram profile. Son Heung-min was also tagged in the player’s Instagram account, which included a video of him scoring his season’s final goal.
More on the victory
In the meantime, Son Heung-success has made history by becoming the first Asian player to win the Premier League Golden Boot. Against Norwich City on Sunday, the South Korean international scored his 23rd goal. In 35 Premier League games, his co-awardee Mo Salah scored 23 goals and assisted 14 times. Mo Salah will win his third Golden Boot, having previously won the award for most goals scored in the 2017-18 season and the following season.
After Heung-min and Salah, Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo finished third with 18 goals in his first season back in the Premier League. While Karina’s gratitude earned her praise from Koreans all around the world, the same could not be said about Ningning, another aespa member. The Chinese diva was chastised during the 2022 Winter Olympics for supporting her country’s short track speed skating team, which won their first Olympic gold medal.
The aespa member hails from Harbin, China’s far northwestern metropolis. While the idol’s devotion to her hometown is understandable, the maknae’s actions enraged many South Korean internet users, who believed that the Chinese opponent used unethical tactics to win the valuable gold and defeat the Korean athlete.
