Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has entered rehab, forcing the veteran band to cancel a string of summer gigs in Las Vegas, the band said on social media Tuesday. Tyler relapsed due to pain management while undergoing foot surgery, according to the group in a joint statement. Tyler’s past rehab experience is well-known. Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer, and Brad Whitford, members of the Boston band, are hoping that Steven will be able to perform on September 4 at Maine Savings Amphitheater in Bangor.

The group’s “Deuces Are Wild” engagement at Park MGM’s Dolby Live theatre was scheduled to begin on June 17 and last through July. Tickets will be returned as soon as possible through Ticketmaster, or they can be requested at the time of purchase. According to the statement, a new cycle of residency concerts will begin in September.

The cancellation of Aerosmith coincides with Steven Tyler’s treatment in rehab after a relapse.

Due to frontman Steven Tyler’s admission to a treatment facility, Aerosmith’s first set of Las Vegas residency gigs has been canceled. Tyler was last seen in public with Aimee Ann Preston, his ten-year girlfriend, on April 3 in Hollywood at a Grammy Awards viewing party to promote his nonprofit Janie’s Fund. Preston, who used to work as the musician’s personal assistant, is 34 years his junior.

In 1984, 1986, 1988, and 2010, Steven Tyler sought treatment for “pain management and an addiction to prescription drugs as a result of ten years of performance injuries.”

Tyler’s doctor, Dr. Brian McKeon, stated Tyler was in “serious chronic discomfort” as a result of his knee and foot injuries.

According to the nominee for an Emmy,

‘My sobriety cost me everything, I have had many instances in my life when I simply couldn’t manage, whether it was a marriage or my addiction had raised its ugly head, and the rest of the guys in the band are not unlike that.’

After relapsing, the Grammy winner was “in risk” of losing his loved ones. Fans, on the other side, backed Steven Tyler in the comments section. One Instagram user told the songwriter to “be strong,” while another pushed him to “get better.”

Aerosmith Tour Has Been Cancelled

Aerosmith’s previously announced headlining concerts in the United Kingdom and Europe in 2022 were postponed earlier this year owing to “uncertainty over travel constraints, the continued existence of COVID regulations, and other concerns.” The band was also scheduled to perform at Glastonbury this year, as well as in 2020. This year, though, Aerosmith will not be performing. Meanwhile, veteran drummer Joey Kramer stated in March that he will take a “temporary leave of absence” from Aerosmith.
